Kristen Stewart To Play Princess Diana In Spencer, Fans Want Sophie Turner Instead

Kristen Stewart rose to fame with her work in Twilight. However, the beauty has come a long way and is one of the most talented actresses in Hollywood. A good news comes in for her fans. The actress will be playing Princess Diana in Spencer. The film will be based on her controversial past.
Spencer will span over that one weekend in Diana, Princess of Wales’ life. Yes, the one where she decides that things with husband Prince Charles aren’t working out. So, she decides to part ways, steps down from the race to be a queen. Whether or not it covers her controversial death is something only time will tell.
Featuring Kristen Stewart, the film will be directed by Pablo Larraín. It is written by Peaky Blinders fame Steven Knight. The film will reportedly be sold to buyers at the viral Cannes market. Spencer will go on floors in early 2021.
Talking about Spencer, Pablo Larraín in a conversation with Deadline said, “We all grew up, at least I did in my generation, reading and understanding what a fairy tale is. Usually, the prince comes and finds the princess, invites her to become his wife and eventually she becomes queen. That is the fairy tale. When someone decides not to be the queen, and says, I’d rather go and be myself, it’s a big big decision, a fairy tale upside down … that is the heart of the movie.”
About roping Kristen Stewart for Spencer, “I think she’s going to do something stunning and intriguing at the same time. She is this force of nature,” shared the director.
However, netizens have a different take on Kristen’s casting. Several fans have come forward and shared that Game Of Thrones actress Sophie Turner should have been cast instead.
“I’m so pressed about Kristen being chosen to play Princess Diana. A non British playing a British, makes no sense. Sophie Turner, Emma Watson, Emily Blunt, Emilia Clarke, Jodie Comer and Imogen Poots were robbed,” wrote a fan.
Another tweeted, “I agree that kristen stewart is not right for the role of princess diana but she’s still a talented actress and it’s sad to see people ripping her to shreds I put forth Sophie Turner, freya mavor, and jodie comer bc I believe the actress should be from the british isles and 5’8+.”
