Koimoi Recommends Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse: We have seen so many Spider-Man movies. But Spider-Verse is entirely different (not just because it’s an animated one) from what we have grown up watching. Read to know what’s different and good about it.
Director: Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey and Rodney Rothman
Cast: Shameik Moore, Jake Johnson, Hailee Steinfeld, Mahershala Ali, Brian Tyree Henry, Lily Tomlin, Luna Lauren Velez, John Mulaney, Kimiko Glenn, Nicolas Cage, Liev Schreiber
Available On: Amazon Prime
In Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse, the superhero is not Peter Parker. Yeah, Peter is there in the film but our hero is a teenager named Miles Morales (played by Shameik Moore ). At his age, Miles should be enjoying his life but he has to fulfil his father’s EXPECTATIONS. Miles father, Jefferson Davis (Brian Tyree Henry) is a police officer who wants his boy to be a ‘tough guy’. However, Miles is special and talented in his own ways. Actor Chris Pine and Jake Johnson play the role of Peter Parker in the film. Wondering why there are 2 different actors as Peter Parker? The title itself suggests – Spider-Verse, where there will be not one but multiple Spider-Man. I am not going to tell the story but only state reasons why I’m recommending this film and why you should definitely check it out! The first one being the film has a SPIDER-WOMAN (played by Hailee Steinfeld) and she’s a total badass.
Spider-Verse is not your regular superhero film where the guy puts on the mask and saves lives. There are challenges, doubts, trust-issues and more. Imagine if you are made to feel that you are nothing but one day you have in yourself the power to save the world? But yet, your lack of self-confidence tells you that you can’t do it. The film gives an important message of how each one of us has the power within us and all we have to do is recognise it and know how to make great use of it. You are in for some amazing dialogues too, for example: “With great ability comes great accountability”, “Sometimes I let matches burn down to my fingertips just to feel something, anything”, “We all have power of one kind of another” etc.

Spider-Verse is a visual treat to the eyes because of its glaring and extraordinary VFX. If you look carefully at every scene, you will notice there’s an important message hidden in almost every shot and the detailing is top-notch and to the T. The bright and dazzling colour effects give the lively mood to the film. Kudos to the animation and design team here! The music of this superhero saga is stupendous. When I watched it for the first time, the first thing I did afterwards was checked out all the songs played in Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse. The peppy numbers have lyrics that will connect with you for sure.
So Koimoi Recommends you Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse. If you still have doubts about watching it, I’m telling you, you are missing one of the best-animated films ever made!
