Canadian actor Kenneth Mitchell passed away on Saturday, February 24. The actor’s grieving family shared the tragic news from Mitchell’s social media handle. Mitchell was born on November 25, 1974. He was in the movie Miracle alongside Kurt Russell. He then appeared as Eric Green in the television drama Jericho. In Star Trek Discovery, Mitchell played three recurring Klingon characters. In 2019, he played the role of Joseph Danvers in Marvel’s Captain Marvel, starring Brie Larson. He had been a part of several other films and television programs.
As per reports, Captain Marvel star Kenneth Mitchell was diagnosed with ALS, and he revealed his diagnosis in an interview with People Magazine in 2020. ALS, or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, is a neurological disorder that causes paralysis and death. Kenneth lived in Los Angeles with his wife, Susan May Pratt, who is also an actress. They have two children.
The Captain Marvel star’s family posted the news of his demise on his Instagram handle. It read, “With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Kenneth Alexander Mitchell, beloved father, husband, brother, uncle, son, and dear friend.”
Riverdale star Skeet Ulrich paid tribute to the late actor in the comments and wrote, “You will never ever be forgotten!! You are embedded in the hearts and minds of so many. You will always be an inspiration 🙏 All my love to you and your beautiful family.”
Last year, Kenneth Mitchell shared a post on his Instagram celebrating five years of living with ALS as he called the disorder ‘horrific’ yet he admitted there was much more to be grateful for. It read, “I’m so thankful to have this day in front of me. It’s been a long 5 years. So much lost, so much gained. Incredibly hard times, mixed with so many more blessings.”
He continued, ” At the heart of it all are friends and family, caregivers and doctors coming to the aid of my family over and over and over again. Giving a plethora of support and love and care and encouragement. There is so much beauty in that. This disease is absolutely horrific…yet despite all the suffering, there is so much to be grateful for. Especially the little joys and resilience of today and the hope of a tomorrow. YNWA. LLAP.”
