Avengers: Endgame was full of memorable, thrilling and also heartbreaking moments. The film completed a year of its release but there are some scenes fans will never forget. This is the last MCU film that featured Robert Downey Jr as Iron Man and Chris Evans as Captain America.
The film is also special because it brought together all the superheroes we have seen in the 21 MCU films. Avengers: Endgame made us witness the ‘I am Iron Man’ and ‘I can do this all day’ phrases again in a completely different way. Our Avengers: Endgame Trivia #42 is about Captain America’s famous lines. Steve Rogers first said these lines in Captain America: The First Avenger, followed by Captain America: Civil war and also in Avengers: Endgame. The Russo Brothers have shared the reason behind Cap’s popular lines.
In an interview with GQ last year, Joe Russo shared, “I think the line ‘I can do this all day’ is really representative of who Cap is as a character. It represents that ethic in him that he will not quit until the fight is won and he will always stand on side of right. It’s interesting because that line is interpreted in several different ways and with different inflexions and different tones throughout the Marvel Universe. He says it in First Avenger and it’s a very earnest announcement of who he is as a character. He says it in Civil War ironically to Tony at the end of the film and then he says it to himself in Avengers: Endgame. A younger, spunkier version of Cap who wears spandex says it to an older and wiser version of Cap who doesn’t want to hear it.”
The Avengers: Endgame director added, “I think that really illustrates a really interesting arc for him as a character. If you just study that line, you can see how he moved throughout the Marvel Universe from a patriot basically to insurgent and then to know, sort of wise and tough war vet at the very end.”
