25 Years Of Apollo 13: Tom Hanks RECALLS Feeling ‘Absolute Idiot’ While Meeting Real Life Jim Lovell

Tom Hanks has a legacy of some brilliant stuff in his career. Out of such work, is 1995’s release Apollo 13. The Forrest Gump actor played the character of Jim Lovell, the commander of Apollo 13 mission. Yesterday, the film completed 25 years but each and every scene still gives us goosebumps.
Hanks’ performance was appreciated by both the critics and ticket-buying audience and no wonder, the film was a big hit. The film depicts the tale of three astronauts and their struggle of getting back home safely with severely damaged spacecraft.
On crossing the milestone of 25 years, Tom Hanks gave an interesting anecdote of meeting real-life Jim Lovell on the sets. The actor shares that it was an intimidating affair for him.
While talking to Hollywood Outbreak, Tom Hanks shared, “We just felt like an absolute idiot when Jim Lovell came by and we were flicking switches.” But to everyone’s surprise, Jim said, “Hey, it looks like a real thing.” The actor shared that he was in doubt if they were giving justice to the real-life incident. In reference to the same thing, he further added, “I made my peace a long time ago on how silly my job is.” He also stated that the team did homework of flicking switches, turning on and off the engine and every other thing.
Directed by Ron Howard, Apollo 13 was made at an estimated cost of $52 million. It went onto become a huge hit with a global collection of $355 million.
