This Friday sees the release of Ajay Devgn’s first film of the year, Shaitaan. The actor has at least five films lined up for release in 2024, and while each of them belongs to a different genre, Shaitaan is a supernatural thriller drama. An official remake of the Gujarati film Vash, the film has Madhavan playing the title role, with Jyothika and Janki in other principal roles.

The film has seen a tight campaign of 3 weeks around it, and that makes sense since it isn’t one of those quintessential mainstream entertainers with set action pieces or songs that would have formed a part of the promotion and marketing.

Indeed, what was required was the promo to do the trick and let word of mouth take over. Thankfully, the Vikas Bahl-directed film has indeed made an early impression as far as the promo is concerned, and that will ensure a respectable opening.

A mid-budget affair, all it requires is a double-digit opening, and that will come in for sure this Friday. The advance booking suggests a decent enough start, and since this is an Ajay Devgn film and does have something to offer to the interiors as well, a lot of spot bookings will take place, which will further push the collections. As of now, a start of around 10 crore is assured, and if word of mouth turns out to be good enough, then evening and night shows will see a push as well towards 12 crore mark.
