The popularity of Indian movies in Pakistan seems to be on the rise. It is quite evident with the fact that many movies are now turning out to gross handsome box office numbers from the country. The latest to register remarkable numbers at the Pakistani box office is Race 2. Multi-Starrer Race 2 did a business of over $ 775,000 in its few weeks run at the Pakistani box office. The number makes Race 2 as the Highest Grossing Bollywood Film in Pakistan.
The previous movie to hold this position was Don 2 with about $680,000 followed closely by Bodyguard with $630,000, and Dabangg 2 with $600,000. An interesting comparison might be with a Pakistani film Bol which had grossed over $1 Million at the Pakistani Box office. Race 2, surprisingly is the 2nd highest grossing movie in Pakistan after Bol.
As of now, Race 2 has grossed over $6.75 Million at the overseas box office which roughly comes down to 37 Crores plus in Indian Ruppees.
With major releases lined up in 2013 one can only assume that Bollywood is going to take the Box office of neighboring countries like Pakistan by storm. Here’s hoping the relation between Indian and Pakistan Cinema keeps blooming with time.
