
Soori-starrer Mandaadi was released in theaters on Thursday. The film clashed with Sardar 2 starring Karthi. Until a few days ago, the two releases were not seen as a big clash. However, the Mandaadi trailer changed that. The audience was amazed by the visuals the film promised and a promising act by Soori. The film has now surpassed Sardar 2’s opening-day collections, beating the Karthi-starrer in the clash.
How Much Did Mandaadi Earn At The Box Office On Day 1?
The sea-based drama had a strong start at the box office. Despite a clash with Sardar 2, Soori’s film outperformed the popular franchise on opening day. The film, which focuses on boat racing, earned 4.75 crore in India on day 1. The sports drama opened on nearly 3,000 screens, 1,000 fewer than Sadar 2. The film earned 3.9 crore in its Tamil version while its Telugu dubbing earned 0.85 crore. The film’s gross domestic collection stands at 5.6 crore.
Registers 2nd Highest Opening Of Soori’s Career
Soori began his career as a character actor for the longest time. It was only with the 2023 film Viduthalai Part 1, directed by Vetrimaran, that Soori played a lead role for the first time alongside Vijay Sethupathi. Since then, the actor has played the lead in a couple of films. Mandaadi is probably his biggest film, with reports that he charged 25 crore as his fee.

Meanwhile, Mandaadi has become his second-highest-grossing opening day collection. It is second to Viduthalai Part 2, which earned more than 7 crore in India on its opening day. Mandaadi is his highest opening non-sequel film as a leading actor.
