Kahaani 2 has seen fair numbers coming in after Week One. Of course more was expected considering the franchise quotient as well as the fact that Vidya Balan and Sujoy Ghosh were coming together after Kahaani. However, there wasn’t much of a hype prior to release which reflected in the Day One collections. There was some increment in footfalls that helped the weekend to grow.

However, since the content didn’t quite cater to universal audience and word of mouth was mixed too, it reflected in the weekday numbers. As a result, 24.25 crore* were accumulated after the first week.

When compared to other films belonging to the same genre which have released in 2016, this is how the first week numbers of Kahaani 2 stand:

Wazir – 30.05 crore
Kahaani 2 – 24.25 crore*
Te3n – 16.34 crore
Madaari – 15 crore

The film would now need to collect well in the second week in order to cover some distance, though the trend so far has not been very encouraging. It would be interesting to see how Befikre does because if it catches up with the youth in a big way, the film would pretty much have a free run in theaters.
