The original Jumanji, released in 1996, was directed by Joe Johnston and starred Robin Williams and Bonnie Hunt in the lead roles. Over two decades later it is back with the modernized version – board game turns into a video game & it’s titled as Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle.

The world of Chris Van Allsburg’s book Jumanji, narrating the story of a young Alan Parrish getting trapped in a board game, found its way to the silver screen in 1995.

From getting lost in the transit, tackling monkeys and battling other odds, the movie revolved around how Parrish gets stuck in the board game and comes back as an adult, and how he has to finish the game with his friend to escape the fate he called upon himself by rolling the dice.

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle has grossed 28.07 crores (21.84 crores nett) at the India box office. The film has managed to get India on the top spot amongst all the Asian Markets that opened this weekend.

The movie has garnered a business of 5.26 crore on Friday, 6.69 crore on Saturday, 8.32 crore on Sunday and 6 crore on Monday showing close to 60% growth over Friday.
