Grand Masti has epitomized the fact that critics’ reception has nothing to do with a film faring well at the box office. The film rested at an overwhelming amount of 67 crores by the end of its 1st week at the box office and over the weekend the film managed to rake up a hefty amount of 14 crores. So far, the total collections of Grand Masti stands 81 crores at the domestic box office.
The film gave Bollywood sex comedies a new dimension with its objectionable jokes and crude humor. The triumvirate of Vivek Oberoi, Aftab Shivdasani and Riteish Deshmukh who returned after their 2004 prequel of the film gave an engaging camaraderie which is the film’s hilt. The smooth pace of the film assures that it will surpass Aashiqui 2, which so far rests as the year’s biggest hit!
