Family Star is all set to hit theatres tomorrow. Starring Vijay Deverakonda and Mrunal Thakur in key roles, the film has high hopes pinned on it, and even the makers look very confident about the content. However, no matter how much trust the makers have in their film, the advance booking at the box office does not look promising at all. In fact, it’s much lower than Vijay’s previous films. Vijay Deverakonda was last seen in Kushi, which released last year. The film saw mixed responses from critics, and at the box office, it underperformed. Before that, he was seen in Liger, which turned out to be a big disaster. With such a track record in recent times, the actor is looking for a strong comeback. Unfortunately, as far as start is concerned, things aren’t looking good for his upcoming film.
As per the report in Track Tollywood, Family Star had sold tickets worth 75 lakhs gross in Hyderabad till yesterday. Talking about Vijay’s Kushi, it had sold tickets worth 2 crores by this time, while his Liger was even higher with 3 crores. So, as compared to Vijay’s last two films, his upcoming film is nowhere near.
This is really a shocking trend as the duo of Vijay Deverakonda and director Parasuram has delivered a cult hit like Geetha Govindham in the past. Considering their winning pair, expectations from Family Star are really high, and it’ll be interesting to see if the film closes the advance booking with a respectable number.
At the North American box office, Family Star has sold tickets worth just $85K. During the same time, Vijay’s Kushi and Liger had enjoyed pre-sales of $250K.
Meanwhile, other than Family Star, Vijay Deverakonda is in the news due to the comment he recently made during the film’s pre-release event. He said that one day he will deliver a 200 crore grosser at the worldwide box office. Interestingly, he made a similar statement during the release of Liger, which received mixed reactions from people.
