It has been a month since Bollywood had enjoyed a 100 crore Hit. M.S. Dhoni – The Untold Story was the last major grosser that the industry had enjoyed and ever since then, there have only been a series of disasters and flops. More than 15 films have failed in the last one month and that made the release of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil all the more important since for churning of moolah at the Box Office, a major success was the need of the hour.
While one waits to see how big does the Karan Johar film eventually turn out to be, steady Tuesday collections of 13.03 crore indicate that at the least, a 100 crore film is definitely on the cards. The film has already accumulated 66.38 crores in 5 Days and before the close of Week One, at the least 75 crore would easily come by. That would leave just 25 crore more to be accumulated for a 100 Crore Club entry and it should be quite comfortable, especially considering the fact that the coming week is entirely open with no new release.

Once that happens, it would be Karan Johar’s first entry into the 100 Crore Club as a director. Also, it would be the second big success together for Dharma and Fox, who had come together with a delightful Kapoor & Sons earlier this year. It is no coincidence that both films were led by Kapoors. Back then it was Rishi Kapoor as the central protagonist and this time around, it is Ranbir Kapoor.
One wonders if Karan Johar could next think of a casting coup and bring together not just Rishi Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor but also Kareena Kapoor Khan in a film of his. Now that would indeed be something to cheer about!
