After the ongoing cricket season has denied many releases from the previous weeks to make a notable beginning at the box-office, this Friday was a pleasant start for the domestic box office scenario. With Tony Stark returning on screen as his charming self in Iron Man 3 after featuring in his last Summer’s New York escapade – Avengers, this Friday also marked the release of a re-created Aashiqui from the Bhatt Franchise after a span of nearly two decades. The prelude film was a spectacular money spinning show and thankfully for them Aashiqui 2 has picked up very well from Day 1.
While both films are of very different tastes, belonging to distinct genres, Aashiqui 2 is soaring at a few clusters whereas Iron Man loyalists are queuing up at the rest. From a geographical angle of distribution, Aashiqui 2 opened best in the North India circuit especially in Delhi, Jaipur and Indore. As per early estimates, the movie made a business of about 5.75 Crores on Friday at the Domestic Box Office.

Aashiqui 2 is a romantic musical; the film is performing well for its refreshingly new star cast. Though on a personal note Shraddha Kapoor was a dull performer but Aditya Roy Kapur is zealous in his act which despite flaws, is extremely eye catching. The film caught on because Bhatt’s brand of romance has rekindled itself on screen after a big gap. Though it is unfair to even compare the film with the original Aashiqui, which went down brilliantly with the audiences from the word go, Aashiqui 2 will manage to incur back its investment and still gather some profit to its credit.
Iron Man 3 had a great beginning at most urban centres. Being a Hollywood superhero film, its target audience in India would be multiplex infesting crowd, where the film did extremely well. Going by its good beginning and being a film that has its grand share of drama, action and wit, one can expect this one to be a trendsetter at box office and overtake the last few big Hollywood releases at the box office in India.
