2018 Box Office Recap: The year 2018 has turned out to be one of the lucrative years for Bollywood. The most interesting point is that despite the underperformance of big ticket releases like Salman Khan’s Race 3, Aamir Khan’s Thugs Of Hindostan and Shah Rukh Khan’s Zero, the small to mid-budget releases compensated the loss very well. Now with Ranveer Singh’s Simmba arriving this week, the year is expected to end on a high note.
Last year, the magnum opus Baahubali 2: The Conclusion swept away the records at the box office. With a mammoth collection of 511.30 crores in its Hindi version alone, the movie set the ticket windows on fire. Mentioning the total business of Bollywood movies at the box office, 2017 yielded about 2688 crores in total, with Tiger Zinda Hai (339.16 crores), Golmaal Again (205.72 crores) and Raees (137.51 crores), amongst the highest grossers.
