Fitoor has entered the record books for being one of the Biggest Disasters ever. The film had a poor start, didn’t really see a respectable jump over the weekend, and then fell flat during the weekdays. As a result, the film collected under 20 crore* at the Box Office. With hardly any numbers expected to come by in the week to come, the film would go down as one of the lowest grossers ever for a film with a major star and big budget.
This is how the lifetime collections of some of the major disappointments look like:
RGV Ki Aag – 8 crore
Drona – 13.4 crore
Tezz – 15.85 crore
Happy Ending – 22 crore
Fitoor – 22-23 crore (expected lifetime)
Joker – 22.5 crore
Bombay Velvet – 23 crore
Raavan – 28.98 crore
Players – 29 crore
Guzaarish – 29.56 crore
Meanwhile, as is always the case with disasters like these, daggers are out on the most saleable name of the lot – Katrina Kaif. Nothing can be more foolhardy than this as she is the same woman who is coming with a flurry of hits and blockbusters behind her. Her last five films have done a combined business of around 850 crore [Phantom – 53 crore, Bang Bang – 181 crore, Dhoom 3 – 284 crore, Jab Tak Hai Jaan – 122 crore, Ek Tha Tiger – 199 crore] and nothing could be more shortsighted than writing her off. In fact even a mention of something like that is nothing less than sacrilege. She is a superstar and here to stay.
* Final numbers awaited
