For years, Aamir Khan has been interested in making a film based on the epic Mahabharata. Earlier reports suggested that the project will be made at a staggering budget of Rs. 1000 crores. However, Aamir has not started working on the film yet and is not planning to do so in the near future.
The actor has now revealed what is taking him so long to make the movie. Aamir explained that considering the emotions associated with the epic, he wants to get everything right, and hopes to start working on the project eventually.
Aamir Khan Reveals What is Causing Delays for the Film Based on Mahabharata
Aamir Khan recently had an interview with BBC News, where he talked about his dream project, Mahabharata. The film was first announced in 2018 when writer Anjum Rajabali confirmed that Aamir would work on the project with a budget of Rs. 1000 crores.
Talking about why the film has not gone on the floors yet, Aamir said, “Well, that’s my dream project and it’s a very scary project. So huge and I am scared of getting it wrong. It’s a huge responsibility because as Indians, it’s something so close to us, it’s in our blood.”
Speaking about how he wants to be very meticulous while making the film, Aamir stated, “I want to get it right. I want to make every Indian proud. I also want to show the world what India has.” He further revealed he still does not know when the film will happen. “I don’t know if it will happen, but it’s something I want to work towards. So let’s see,” he concluded.
Aamir is currently busy promoting Laapataa Ladies in the West after the film was selected as India’s official entry to Oscars 2025. On the work front, he will next be seen in Sitaare Zameen Par, a spiritual sequel to his 2007 hit Taare Zameen Par. Also starring Darsheel Safary, and Genelia Deshmukh, the film has wrapped filming and will hit the theaters in 2025.
