He has become quite media savvy and has fielded questions about his family, whether Anil Kapoor is not cast in a No Entry sequel, rumors of Arjun Kapoor‘s relationship status, and so many more. Rumors about the Kapoor clan are not new territory, especially about the state of Late Sridevi and Kapoor’s Marriage. Shocking as it might be, Boney Kapoor himself once responded to rumors about his daughter Janhvi Kapoor being born out of wedlock?
The Maidaan producer has been a maverick in the film production game for a long time. Known for his brash humor and candid responses, Kapoor has been a media favorite because of his candor. While there has always been interest in the state of his marriage with the late Sridevi, the interest seems to have grown after her passing and the debut of their daughter, Janhvi and Khushi, in Bollywood.

That is the case with this particular rumor about Janhvi Kapoor. While Sridevi was the darling of the screen, she was also the subject of many headlines about her personal life, be it her alleged wedding to actor Mithun Chakraborty, her onscreen chemistry, and her eventual secret wedding to Boney Kapoor.
Rumors have circulated on forums and gossip blogs that Janhvi Kapoor was born out of wedlock. It has always raised intrigue about Boney Kapoor and Sridevi’s marriage timeline. Papa Boney had about enough of it and set the record straight.
While talking to a portal in October 2023, he said, “My marriage to Sri took place in Shirdi on June 2. That’s when we exchanged vows. We were there, we spent the night there. And it was only in January 1997, when her pregnancy was seen, that we had no choice but to marry publicly. In public, we were married only in January 1997. There are still some scribes who write that Janhvi was conceived before marriage,”
The interest in the Boney-Sridevi marriage was also a result of his breakup with his first wife, Mona Shourie. Shourie was still Boney’s wife when he secretly wed Sridevi, facing a lot of scrutiny.
In another interview, Kapoor said he was always honest about his feelings for Sridevi, even in front of his ex-wife. He said, “I do feel guilty, but I was honest with my wife, Arjun’s mother, Mona.”
While, remembering Sridevi he said, that she was his strength and that he continues to fulfill her dream. For the unversed, Sridevi passed away in 2018 while attending a family function. Theories about her passing on the internet continue to circulate, despite the cause of her death being cited as an accidental drowning.
