Padmaavat Lyricists Siddharth – Garima Responded To Swara Bhasker’s Open Letter

Actress Swara Bhaskar has, in a scathing comment on Padmaavat, said she felt like a “vagina only” after watching the Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial. However, some film fraternity members dismissed it as a “feminist debate”.

Swara believes Padmaavat has brought up the question whether women — widowed, raped, young, old, pregnant, pre-pubescent — have the right to live.

In an open letter published on The Wire late on Saturday, Swara has decried glorification of self-immolation customs Sati and Jauhar.

Now, according to a report in The Quint, Ramleela co-writers lyricists from Padmaavat, Siddharth-Garima responded by writing another open letter titled, An open letter to all Vaginas.

“Did they feel like a ‘vagina’ when Rani Padmaavat almost orders her husband, who obliges, to throw out the lecherous priest? She takes a decision, as a vagina.Did they feel like a ‘vagina’ when Rani Padmavati decides to show her face to Khilji in a mirror? Though it was her decision, as a vagina.Did they feel like a ‘vagina’ when Rani Padmaavat goes to ‘rescue’ her husband who had been abducted? Again, a decision against the system, as a vagina.”

“So people who feel like a ‘vagina’ after watching Padmaavat, should continue to feel like a ‘vagina’ for they would never understand the power it has. The power to create and run the world. Such people are the biggest road-blocks for ‘feminism’.”
