Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma may still be fighting it out amongst themselves when it comes to wearing a chiffon saree in snow capped mountains for Yash Chopra’s next romantic rendezvous with Shah Rukh Khan in lead. However the girl who has managed to beat them in the game; and that too in her very first Hindi film, is Nidhi Subbaiah. The South star has donned a chiffon dress for her Bollywood debut ‘Ajab Gazabb Love‘ and can already be heard going gaga over her ‘feat‘.
“For her it wasn’t Switzerland though but a place located at the border of Italy and France. It was a sub zero temperature there but so excited was Nidhi about the prospect of wearing chiffon that she just went with the flow”, informs a source from the unit.
What made it all the more special was the fact that it was director Sanjay Gadhvi at the helm of affairs. Since Sanjay has made quite a few films for Yash Raj before, he could capture Nidhi Subbaiah in just the way as Chopras would have liked.
“Sanjay’s initial years have been with Yashji and Adi”, a source adds, “He has presented his women beautifully in ‘Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai‘, ‘Dhoom‘ and ‘Dhoom 2‘. Chiffon was always in his mind and when the French Alps came calling, it was time for him to get Nidhi Subbaiah into the costume.”
Even though Nidhi Subbaiahi is not wearing a chiffon saree, the dress has been a good enough reason for her to be elated.
“As a child I have seen Sridevi and Madhuri Dixit dance in these lovely chiffon sarees. When I got an opportunity, I was obviously wowed. It’s a different matter though that my brain almost froze in that cold”, quips Nidhi Subbaiah who has worked in around ten films down South but never been to snow capped mountains.
Guess that’s a minor sacrifice she has to make to realise her dreams. Meanwhile one waits to see whether it is going to be Katrina or Anushka who would get the shivers next.
