The discussion of the pay gap between male and female actors of Bollywood has been a long standing one. While many female actresses have lashed out at this practice and called it unfair, Katrina Kaif has a different stand altogether on the same.
Speaking at the news anchor Barkha Dutt curated We The Women, Katrina Kaif has said that the pay gap does not make her angry or upset but makes her want to do better in her field. Further elaborating on her point, the Tiger Zinda Hai actress said at the event, “It doesn’t make me angry, it makes me super passionate because it is my ambition to try and make this happen… I want to see a film with — not supported by men– the same budget that you give to the big action franchises.”
While there are some amazing female centric films like Mary Kom, Naam Shabana, Pink, Kahaani and many more that are being made in the recent times, these films fail to make collections like that of the male that have a male actor in focus. Calling such comparisons unfair, Katrina said that it is the producers who need to take a braver stand and believe in the female actors and pump in more money on female centric films which also then “has the potential to do those numbers.”
