When Kareena Kapoor Khan starrer Heroine was released in 2012, people had high expectations from the film, especially from director Madhur Bhandarkar, who had earlier made a female-centric hit like Fashion.
However, the film failed to live up to expectations and could not fare well at the box office. Now that old films are re-releasing in theaters, and some of them are doing business better than their original runs, Madhur Bhandarkar is interested in bringing Heroine back to the cinema halls.
Madhur Bhandarkar is in Talks to Re-release Heroine in Theaters
In a conversation with India Today, Madhur Bhandarkar opened up about the possibility of the re-release of Heroine. The National award-winning director said that he is already in discussions with a cinema chain to bring the movie back to theaters. “I’m speaking to PVR to re-release some of my films, including Heroine,” Madhur said.
The director added how the movie has found a fan following over the years. “I’m very proud of my baby and even today when I have to make these films, I make it with the same zeal and the same people I have worked with. When this movie was made, today’s generation was possibly 7-8 years old, but all thanks to OTT, they have seen the film now and absolutely loved it.”
