In a week from now, Anushka Sharma would return as ‘Bijlee’ in Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola. While there is some fun indeed waiting to explode on screen with the antics of Matru and Mandola, it can pretty much be seen that Bijlee is someone who is not apologetic about her sexuality. Does she wish to elaborate on that part?

“I think Bijlee is not apologetic about anything. As a character she is someone who likes to shock people. She likes to get reactions out of people. Also, she is overtly practical about things in her life. She has that ‘so what’ attitude to her. So if she wears something or says something, she doesn’t want to explain that to anyone. She is a rebellion in her own right and her strong personality only enhances this trait,” Anushka details.

“She has a one point agenda, if she knows that what she does irks people, she will do it all the more,” she adds.

Now this is one characterisation that would be seen right after Jab Tak Hai Jaan in which Anushka played a chirpy-n-confident young woman who knew what she wanted and didn’t hesitate saying it in as many words.

Even though the film did fetch mixed response, Anushka was particularly picked for being one of the better things about the film. That must have flattered her, isn’t it?

Responds Anushka, “What makes me happy is the fact that my work has been appreciated and that’s regardless of whether I have been appreciated in comparison to anyone else. I am happy with my performance and there is a definite joy. However I have not judged my success on the basis of anyone else’s success or failure”.

A smart reply indeed!
