Good Newwz, starring Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Kiara Advani and Diljit Dosanjh is all set to release this Friday. The film is directed by Raj Mehta and it’s a comedy drama based on the topic of IVF.
For Kiara Advani, this is her second release of 2019 and the actress is very excited for the same. Her first release of this year ‘Kabir Singh‘ made a good collection at the box office. In an interview with Koimoi, the actress got candid about the film and sharing the screen space with Akshay, Kareena and Diljit.

What’s going on in your mind as the release date is coming closer?

I’m really excited for the film. I’m just waiting for 27th, for the film to release and for everybody to go and watch it. It’s a film that will definitely make you very happy.
The story of Good Newwz is about two pregnant women. Usually, actors feel connected to their characters. You don’t know how it feels to be pregnant, so what made you say yes to the film?
I feel, the script was very unusual. It’s a concept that’s very relatable. There are emotional elements and moments in the film. I think for every woman, somewhere deep down, we have a maternal instinct. It’s something you can easily connect with. So when, I heard the script, for me it was an immediate yes. There was no two thoughts about playing a pregnant woman. I’ve even been pregnant in Kabir Singh. I felt like it’s such a beautiful story and it had all the commercial elements to reach out to everybody. It’s got humour and it falls into place very seemlessly.
Good Newwz is a comedy drama and your first comedy film. Did you enjoy it?
It’s very difficult to make people laugh. This was the first time I was doing anything like this. But I think, because Diljit, Akshay sir and Kareena ma’am were there and the script itself had (comedy). It’s a situational comedy. I have learnt a lot, like how to be in this situation. Akshay sir uses his body language a lot, he uses physicality when he does comedy. Diljit is very spontaneous. I’ve noticed, during rehearsals, he would never do what he is going to do in the take because he likes to feel it organic. In comedy, you can’t keep doing it too many times as the excitement of first time goes away. So watching them do all this, I learned. This has been my training ground for any comedy film and role. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and Indoo Ki Jawani also has a lot of comedy so this will help.
You are working with Akshay, Kareena and Diljit which is an amazing star cast. What was your first reaction after learning you will be with sharing the screen space with them? How was the experience?
I had mixed feelings initially because I was so excited that I was going to work with them. I also had butterflies in my stomach because I’m doing comedy for the first time and it’s a different role. It’s a huge opportunity to work with Akshay sir & Kareena ma’am. I’ve grown up watching Bebo. For me, she’s the ultimate. Just to be in the same frame and acting with them is a dream come true.
