The trailer of Chhapaak starring Deepika Padukone and Vikrant Massey was unveiled yesterday. Along with the actors, the trailer launch event in Mumbai was attended by director Meghna Gulzar too.
At the event, a lot of questions were asked by the media to the team of Chhapaak. Director Meghna Gulzar was asked that her films have a stronger female character so is her upcoming a women-centric film. The Raazi director requested not to call her film a women-centric one.
Meghna told the reporters, “I have a request that ‘do not categorise Chhapaak as women-centric film’. My stories do have stronger female characters, unlike our conventional films. But they are not the stories of only one woman. I’m really hoping that my films say a lot more than being just a woman-oriented story.”

When asked the reason for choosing real acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal’s story, she stated, “I choose stories that resonate with me. I go purely by instinct. I never think like, ‘Now I want to make a sensitive film so I will look for a sensitive topic or how will I make it commercial?”
