Ananya Panday Says Karan Johar Does Not Shield Her From Criticism: “He Is the First One To Pop The Bubble”

Karan Johar has often been criticized for protecting star kids from criticism. Ananya Panday, one of Karan’s closest friends in the industry and also a star kid, has now opened up about whether the filmmaker and producer actually guards her.
Ananya has revealed that Karan is not at all protective against criticism. She said that the director instead wants actors to go out there and face the industry’s hardships. She added that Karan supports her but does not feed her about what she should do in her career.

Ananya Panday recently appeared on YouTuber Raj Shamani’s podcast, where she discussed Karan Johar’s role in her career. The Kho Gaye Hum Kahan star said that Karan does not believe in shielding actors and wants them to have as much exposure as possible. “He (Karan Johar) is very perceptive and very open, and he doesn’t want to shield himself, so I didn’t think he wants it for any of us, you know. He wants us to be in the real world and get as much exposure as possible,” Ananya said.
The actress was then asked if Karan guides her in her career and forms a protective bubble around her, to which, she replied, “Not at all. He is the first one to pop the bubble. Rather than feeding us, ki yeh karna hai woh karna hai (telling us to do this or that), he’s just there as a strong pillar of support.” The discussion then landed on star kids, to which Ananya said that people have unnecessarily attached a negative connotation to the word. “People have made it (star kid) a bad word. And I don’t think it’s a bad word. People have made you aware.”
“When you’re watching something on screen, you’re like, ‘Arey, ye iski beti hai (Oh, she’s this star’s daughter).’ It doesn’t need to be like that. People should just go in and think what they have to. And they do think what they have to,” she concluded. On the work front, Ananya Panday was recently seen in the Netflix film CTRL and the Prime Video series Call Me Bae.
