Shark Tank India season 3 has been keeping the nation hooked on all the lucrative deals and banger pitches. In season 3, OG Sharks Namita Thapar, Aman Gupta, Anupam Mittal, Vineeta Singh & Anupam Mittal have been joined by Amit Jain, Deepinder Goyal, Azhar Iqbal, Radhika Gupta, Ritesh Agarwal, Ronnie Scewvala, & Varun Dua.
However, looking at everyone’s deep-rooted interest in the business reality show, we thought of doing some research about what was promised in the last two seasons of the show and what was actually delivered after the two seasons went off-air.
According to a report by Hindu Business Line, the deals and promises made on episodes of Shark Tank India usually take 6 – 12 months to close, and the actual investments happen during this period.
Sometimes, the investments take a longer time since, after the episodes, a lot goes into verification, re-negotiations, and documentation. Shark Tank India season 2 aired its last episode on March 13, 2023, almost a year ago. According to the initial report by Private Circle data, the Shark closed 99 deals of the 103 commitments they had made on Season 2. This is a success of almost 96% share of deals closed, which is much higher than the commitments made on the season.
Commitments On Shark Tank India Season 1
While details on season 2 are still in process, the report by Private Circle for season 1 stated that around 41% of the commitments were fulfilled for the season. Namita Thapar, Ashneer Grover, Aman Gupta, Anupam Mittal, Ghazal Alagh, Vineeta Singh, and Peyush Bansal closed 27 deals out of the promised 65 deals from season 1.
Namita Thapar Tops The Gang
Out of all the Sharks, Namita Thapar closed almost 59% of her commitments. She promised investment in 22 companies but fulfilled the commitment for 13 companies. That is the maximum and best performance for a Shark in season 1. Anupam Mittal was the Shark with the lowest investment as he fulfilled only 7 out of his promised 24 commitments. However, in one of his interviews, Anupam Mittal clarified that many times, the pitchers want to move ahead since they get better valuations and investors than the Shark Tank India Judges.
Aman Gupta At #2
However, Ghazal Alagh was the one who promised most of her deals after Namita, but she was a part of the show for very few episodes, and her investments were also negligible. So, making the comparison on similar parameters, it was boAt founder Aman Gupta who stood second when it came to delivering what was promised.
Aman Gupta invested in a total of 17 deals out of the promised 28 deals on the show. Ashneer Grover promised an investment of 5.38 crore on 21 deals. He later invested 2.95 crore in 11 deals.
It would be interesting to see where the leaderboard would shift after the report cards of seasons 2 and 3 are revealed.
