Prithviraj Sukumaran made his Bollywood debut with the movie Aiyyaa, which also stars Rani Mukerji. After that, the actor has rarely worked in Hindi movies. The South star will soon be seen in a big Bollywood film this year – Bade Miyan Chote Miya. The action thriller also stars Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff, Alaya F and Manushi Chhillar.
In an interview, Prithviraj Sukumaran was asked why he has starred only in a handful of Hindi movies. The actor has done some incredible work in several Malayalam movies. So why didn’t he keep the same balance with Hindi movies? Prithviraj gave an interesting answer.
The Salaar actor told OTT Play that there’s nothing aspirational about Hindi films as such, like it was before. Prithviraj Sukumaran said, “We are in a time and age where it is not even that now you think ‘, okay, maybe if I do Hindi cinema I get a bigger stage, more people will see my work’. No. You can do a Malayalam film today, and if that film is great, and if that film is like a Manjummel Boys… the entire country is talking about it today.”
He added, “We are in a time and age where there is nothing aspirational per se about doing a Hindi film or a Tamil film or a Telugu film. The aspiration is always to be able to do great cinema.” Prithviraj added that wherever great cinema will take him next, he’ll go there. If the next great script comes to him from Assamese cinema, he will be a part of it.

Meanwhile, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan will release in theatres on April 10, 2024. The actor’s latest big release is The Goat Life, aka Aadujeevitham. The Malayalam film is directed by Blessy and also stars Amala Paul. The survival drama will release in theatres on March 28, 2024. The actor will next appear in Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil and Vilayath Buddha, slated to release in 2024. Prithviraj will also direct L2: Empuraan, aka L2E, a Malayalam action thriller which stars Mohanlal, Manju Warrier and Tovino Thomas.
