Tollywood star Dhanush’s Tamil hit Asuran which released last month has been in news all over from past few weeks following its Telugu remake. By now it’s well known among cine-goers that the Telugu version will have Tollywood actor Venkatesh reprising Dhanush’s character.

The latest news related to the remake is, the makers are in talks with Sivaji actress Shriya Saran for the role of leading lady in the film. The original had Mollywood actress Manju Warrier opposite Dhanush in lead.

As per reports, the film will be helmed by Hanu Raghavapudi and will be bankrolled by Suresh Babu.

Earlier there were reports about the actor-producer duo – Venkatesh and Suresh approaching director Tharun Bhascker to helm the Telugu remake, but following his busy schedule, the latter rejected the offer. Filmmaker Vetrimaaran who made the original film too was approached by Suresh, but the former showed the least interest in making the remake of his own film.

Talking about Asuran, the film is based on novel Vekkai, which is been penned by Sahitya Academy Winning Tamil writer Poomani.

The film when released was well received and appreciated by the audience. The Dhanush starrer had garnered 100 crores in a span of fewer than two weeks post its release.
