Road House star Jake Gyllenhaal, born in the Gyllenhaal family, has lived up to the family’s legacy. But there were times when he got overwhelmed while filming, and something similar happened during Marvel’s Spider-Man: Far From Home. He appeared in the role of Mysterio and heavily impacted the life of Tom Holland’s character, Peter Parker. The Oscar-nominated actor is known for going the extra mile for his roles.

He lost around 30 pounds for his role in Nightcrawler. However, after that, he decided not to get engrossed in a role further, and the primary reason for it might be his Oscar snub. He was not nominated for the Academy Awards for that part. On the personal front, Jake is the son of director Stephen Gyllenhaal and screenwriter Naomi Foner. The Dark Knight star Maggie Gyllenhaal is Jake’s sister, and the sibling duo shared the screen in Donnie Darko. Renowned Hollywood personalities Paul Newman and Jamie Lee Curtis are his godfather and godmother, respectively.

For the unversed, Jake Gyllenhaal was reportedly being eyed by Sony to replace Tobey Maguire in Spider-Man 2. Tobey was also going through a back injury and was dealing tough salary negotiations with the production house. But Jake went on record to say Tobey is Peter Parker, and he believes his not securing the part was for the best. Maybe not Spider-Man, but he appeared as a supervillain in the Sony-MCU-shared universe.
