We all know J.A.R.V.I.S in Marvel films as Tony Stark’s AI. From Iron Man to Avengers: Age of Ultron, the voice has played a key role in Robert Downey Jr aka Iron Man’s life. The android voice was given by actor Paul Bettany.

However, J.A.R.V.I.S later became Vision in Avengers: Age of Ultron which came as a surprise not only to the fans but also to the actor. In an interview with BBC Radio 1 earlier, Paul Bettany shared how one of the producers told him that his career is over until Vision happened.

#ThrowbackThursday: When Marvel Broke Its Own Rule For Paul Bettany AKA Iron Man’s J.A.R.V.I.S & Avengers: Age Of Ultron’s Vision!

Paul said, “I had just had a meeting with a producer, who will remain nameless, who told me that my career was over. He said ‘You’re done, you’re done in this town. I stepped out into Hollywood and I sat on the sidewalk with my feet in the gutter and I thought ‘F*ck me.”

He added, “My phone rang and it was [‘Age of Ultron’ director] Joss Whedon and he said, ‘Do you want to play the Vision in the next ‘Avengers’ movie?'” Bettany immediately said yes to play the superhero Vision.

However, to give Paul the role of J.A.R.V.I.S and Vision is against the rules of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. About the same, the actor had told Business Insider, “They [Marvel] have a rule, that you’re not allowed to play more than one character in the Marvel universe. So, they broke the rules. They bent the rules slightly for me because Joss really wanted to bring the Vision into the film world, and he really wanted me to do it.”
