Avengers: Endgame was an emotional experience for all MCU fans. We witnessed Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) and Captain America (Chris Evans) sacrifice their lives to protest the universe from the supervillain Thanos. While that broke millions of hearts, recent reports of Tony Stark’s return has been rife. And if that wasn’t exciting enough, Steve Rogers may be back too!
For the unversed, Marvel is coming up with a solo film, Black Widow, which witnesses a prequel to Natasa Romanoff’s life before she became an Avenger. It was being said that given the film is set in the 1980s, one could even witness Robert Downey Jr. AKA Iron Man’s return in it. Now, a fan theory suggests there were two Captain Americas in the MCU timeline, and that indeed makes it possible for Chris Evans’ return too.
In Avengers: Endgame, Steve Rogers decides to time travel to be with Peggy, but that doesn’t erase the version we’ve seen in the Marvel films. Some fans were quick to notice an old Captain from Peggy’s funeral in Captain America: Civil War, and the post has been going viral as soon as it was shared by Comicbook.

To add onto the rumours is Christopher Markus, one of the writers of the film, who didn’t quite quash the rumours but instead fuelled it as he said, “I would like to believe that through some sort of bulls**t time loop paradox — throw in the words you use when you’re bulls***ting science in a movie: ‘some sort of quantum paradox’ — that there are indeed two Captain Americas in the MCU timeline,” he had said during San Diego Comic-Con last year. “That Steve Rogers who looped back into time has therefore always been there, and that he is living somewhere else in the movies you’re watching.”
