Lionsgate CEO John Feltheimer has announced on Friday that fourth and fifth instalment of the Keanu Reeves starrer action film franchise, John Wick, will be developed and shot consecutively next year. The decision was taken during the company’s earnings call on Thursday.
As reported by Deadline, John Wick 4 is currently scheduled to go on floors on May 27, 2022, and the company is busy preparing scripts for two instalments of the franchise. The film’s production was delayed earlier this year due to Hollywood’s ongoing production issues. No other details about the fifth instalment of the action film franchise were revealed during the earnings call. Both films will be shot back to back when Keanu Reeves becomes available. However, this is not the first time that the actor has shot consecutively. He shot Matrix: Reloaded and Matrix: Revolutions back to back from March 2001 to August 2002.
Reportedly, John Wick has become a big action franchise for Lionsgate as all three instalments of the franchise has enjoyed considerable box office success and have received widespread acclaim from critics. All three instalments starring Keanu Reeves have grossed $584 million at the box office.
