James Gunn knows how to make superheroes or DC fans happy. Every now and then, he shares exciting updates about his upcoming film. On February 29, Gunn revealed that Superman: Legacy is now titled Superman. The big update came on the superhero’s birthday (as per the comics). The film stars David Corenswet as Clark Kent, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl and others.

The Guardians of the Galaxy director didn’t just stop at revealing the new movie title. He also treated fans with a glimpse of his superhero’s new costume. James’ picture highlights the logo design on the costume, which is different from everything we have seen before.

On his Instagram page, the director wrote, “Overjoyed to be announcing the start of principal photography on SUPERMAN today, February 29, which just so happens to be – coincidentally and unplanned – Superman’s birthday. When I finished the first draft of the script, I called the film Superman: Legacy. By the time I locked the final draft, it was clear the title was SUPERMAN. Making our way to you July 2025.”
