Emma Watson Opens Up On Joining Gucci Owned Kering’s Board Of Directors For More Sustainable Fashion

Everyone’s famous Hermione Granger from the Harry Potter series, Emma Watson, surely knows how to use her stardom for a good purpose. From being appointed as UN Women goodwill ambassador in 2014 to standing up in front in 2018’s Time’s Up Movement, she has done a lot of humanitarian work.
Emma Watson is now taking one more step ahead by joining Gucci owned Kering’s board of directors. Reportedly, the talented actress will be a part of the board’s sustainability committee which aims to make fashion more sustainable.
Talking about the same, Emma Watson recently told Vogue, “For me, sustainability is about the effects of today’s actions on our shared future.”
“As the youngest member of Kering’s board, I hope to influence decisions that will impact future generations and the world that we leave them,” she added.
Emma Watson turned heads earlier during Met Gala 2016 as she wore an eco-friendly Calvin Klein dress made from recycled plastic bottles. While walking the prestigious red carpets, she has always stood up from the sustainable fashion and hence people are not surprised by her as she takes one strong step ahead in this path.
Talking about the reason behind choosing to take up this new role at Kering, Emma Watson said, “As the COVID-19 crisis has shown, sustainability is an urgent issue which closely aligns to questions of justice and equality for women, blacks, indigenous and people of colour, and the environment. The work Kering is doing (in advancing sustainability in fashion) feels more vital than ever and I am extremely grateful to be able to join these efforts, putting my support behind a group who are demonstrating they take this responsibility seriously. “
“I look forward to helping Kering further accelerate the pace [of its] work, building upon what it’s already doing. I am also extremely excited to collaborate with Kering’s women’s rights foundation. I’m always just excited to learn.” she added.
