Drishyam is the sole release of the week and with Ajay Devgn himself comfortable with the fact that the opening here won’t be earth shattering, it can be well assumed that everything would pretty much boil down to word of mouth.
For a film which is not really a song and dance affair, has no action in there, and is basically a family drama centered on a murder mystery, Drishyam is still not a dry affair and actually makes for an intriguing affair. However, for that audience needs to give it a thumbs-up and that can pretty much be expected with a good director (Nishikant Kamat) at the helm of affairs. The film is expected to take an opening in the range of 30%-40% and then show an escalation by evening shows and then rest of the weekend.

Ajay Devgn has been consistently gaining an opening day of over 10 crore. His last film Action Jackson had taken an opening of 11 crore. Before that his Singham Returns had taken a record opening of 32 crore. Satyagraha too had managed 11 crore on Day One, Himmatwala had brought in 12 crore, Son of Sardaar netted 10.5 crore and Bol Bachchan was 12 crore. Only Tezz, which was a delayed film, could net just 3.5 crore.

While Drishyam would be much better than this, eventually one expects Day One to be in 8-10 crore range.
