Together arrived in theaters last week after building steady attention since its Sundance premiere. Directed by Michael Shanks, the film stars Alison Brie and Dave Franco, a real-life couple who have been working on a string of genre-bending projects lately.
This marks their third film together, and probably their most ambitious. It is being released in the US by Neon, a distributor known for pushing indie horror into the spotlight with a run of major successes, including several Palme d’Or winners and recent breakout hits.

Earlier this year, Neon launched The Monkey ($68.8m) by Osgood Perkins, which turned a tidy profit at the global box office. Before that came Longlegs ($127.9m), another Perkins film that doubled those numbers. With another release from him coming up soon, the studio seems to have found a formula, and they have thrown their weight behind Together, giving it a midweek launch to get ahead of a packed release window.
Together Box Office: Competes with The Bad Guys 2 and The Naked Gun Reboot
In the very same week, DreamWorks put out The Bad Guys 2($44.5m) while Paramount returned with a reboot of The Naked Gun($28.3m). Both of those opened stronger than Together, which pulled in more than $10 million across five days, per Box Office Mojo.
Together Box Office Summary
Domestic – $10.8m
International – NA
Worldwide Collection – $10.8m
Even though the film did not make it to the top 5, critics responded well to the film. It holds a solid 90% on Rotten Tomatoes and audience reactions have been more split.
Together’s Production Budget and Global Release Outlook
Together leans hard into body horror and emotional discomfort, something critics praised as both disturbing and impressive. Franco and Brie, who spoke about the risks of the project during press interviews, acknowledged the personal stakes involved, knowing that blending their relationship with such a strange genre piece could either elevate them or backfire.
The film was made for around $17 million and still has its international release ahead. Domestic performance might not be explosive, but it is early and the real test begins when it expands overseas. Together is currently playing in theaters.
