R Madhavan has carved a space for himself in the film industry. Thankfully, he never felt the pressure of taking the route to be a typical hero and rather tried for more content-driven roles. If you look closely, you will find that the actor has always tried experimenting with his roles or genres. While he has seen some big failures throughout his career, Madhavan has also been blessed with appreciation from the Hindi audience, and Shaitaan’s box office success is the latest example.

Madhavan belongs to a different mold of actors, and in the Tamil industry, where he predominantly works, Madhavan has stayed away from that ‘star’ image by always looking for different roles. Similarly, in Bollywood, he has maintained an image of being more of a subtle and versatile actor. Yes, there has been a downside to his experimental approach, but he has also tasted enough commercial success.

R Madhavan entered Bollywood in 2001 with Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein. It wasn’t a theatrical success as the collection wrapped up at around 6 crores at the Indian box office. After that, he suffered two major blows until he delivered his first winner in the form of Rang De Basanti in 2006. It’s been a roller coaster ride post-Rang De Basanti, and Madhavan saw both hits and misses.
