Coming from Blockbuster Tuesday, the film saw a significant drop, but still, it pulled off a strong number. As a result, it has made a smashing entry to the 300 crore club on day 7. How much did Kantara: Chapter 1 earn at the Indian box office in 7 days?
The latest Kannada magnum opus is doing solid business in the Hindi belt, Karnataka, and Telugu states (Andhra Pradesh and Telangana). Even in Tamil Nadu and Kerala, it has amassed good numbers so far. Due to discounted ticket rates on Tuesday, day 6, the film earned an impressive 34.25 crores. On Wednesday, day 7, it dropped by 27% but still raked in an estimated 25 crores.
Overall, Kantara: Chapter 1 has earned an estimated 316 crore net (all languages) at the Indian box office, as per Sacnilk. Adjusting for GST, the gross domestic collection stands at 372.88 crores. Today, on day 8, the film is likely to stay above the 20 crore mark, concluding the 8-day extended opening week at 337-338 crore net.
Kantara: Chapter 1 has become the 3rd film Kannada film to enter the 300 crore net club in India. Also, on day 7, it comfortably surpassed Kantara (309.64 crores) to become the 2nd highest-grossing Kannada film of all time at the Indian box office. The Rishab Shetty starrer was reportedly mounted on a budget of 125 crores. Against this cost, it has earned 316 crore net so far, thus making a return on investment (ROI) of 191 crores. Calculated further, it equals 152.8% returns. So, as per Koimoi’s parameters, it secured a super hit verdict.
