Happy New Year opened to a phenomenal response both at multiplex chains and single screens across the country. The movie was bound to create history with the kind of occupancy it witnessed right from 1st show till the last show yesterday.
This Shah Rukh Khan starrer has clocked record-breaking collections on Day 1 i.e. 1st Friday. HNY has made a whopping business of over 44.97 crores yesterday, thus shattering all previous records attained by any Bollywood film. The film collected 42.62 cr in Hindi, Telugu made 1.43 crores collections and Tamil Version made 0.92 crores business.

Though the critics have rated the film averagely, the word of mouth publicity is overall strong. The film saw near 100-per cent occupancy at most of cinema houses yesterday and thus a bigger and better weekend is surely on cards.

Earlier, Aamir Khan’s Dhoom 3 held the Highest Opening Day Collections of 36 Crores, followed by SRK’s Chennai Express, which made 33.10 crores.
