Kriti Sanon has done it. Her film Crew has gone beyond just the opening day numbers and has, in fact, scored consistently on Saturday and Sunday as well. As a result, the film’s weekend numbers have come to 32.53 crore.
What’s indeed special is that each of the other four films above it is an event or a holiday release. Adipurush was much hyped for a couple of years before it eventually arrived, Dilwale was a big release when it arrived pre-Christmas on a clash with Bajirao Mastani, Housefull 4 was her last Diwali release before the pandemic, and Bachchhan Paandey arrived post-pandemic on Holi.
In such a scenario, if Crew finds itself in this elite list of top openers, then it says a lot about the manner in which the film is loved by the audiences. As for her next three in line, Luka Chuppi, Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, and Bhediya, all of these are Maddock productions and successes of varying degrees.
Just like it had happened when it came to the Top-10 opening days, it’s Panipat [17.68 crore] that has moved out of the Top-10 list. The film that finds itself in the No. 10 slot is Heropanti, which is incidentally Kriti’s first Bollywood release. While Housefull 5 is her next announced theatrical release, which will arrive only in 2025, one now waits to see which films she does in the interim period.
