Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire has scored a very good weekend at the box office with 37.6 crores coming in. It’s a feat in itself since the lifetime collections of the last film from the franchise, Godzilla vs Kong, had netted 46.58 crores in its lifetime, and here it has come quite close to 49 crores mark itself in just 3 days.
In fact, that film scored quite well in the first week, with 40.07 crores coming in, but then crashed soon after, adding just a little over 6 crores. However, the newest instalment has seen good reports coming its way, which means it would play on for a while for sure. That said, a piece of caution here. Box office returns for such Hollywood films come the best from their 3D and IMAX versions, and since Bade Miyan Chote Miyan is arriving in both formats and Maidaan is arriving on IMAX, it would be a short run for the Hollywood biggie in these formats.
Meanwhile, coming to the present times, it was a very good Sunday for Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire with 13.15 crores being scored. That has ensured a very healthy run so far, and now all eyes are on the Monday score. Though Bollywood films usually drop by 50% on Mondays, Hollywood sees a bigger fall of around 60%-70% since they are basically weekend runners. In the case of Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, the drop may be even bigger since Friday was a partial holiday. Hence, if it scores 4-5 crores on Monday then that would be at par.
