Housefull 3 has taken a positive start at the Box Office. It was always on the cards that the film would open better than last installment of the franchise, Housefull 2 [13.7 crore] and Akshay Kumar’s last release Airlift [12.35 crore].
While that was a given, all eyes were on how much further high would the film go. Of course anything between 18-20 crore would have given the film a super-solid footing. However, what was definitely needed was a number that was higher than 15 crore, which would have lent positive signs for the film.

This is what happened as the Sajid Nadiadwala and Eros film managed to bring in 15.21 crore on its Day One. These are good numbers for a start, especially when there wasn’t a major chartbuster song to pull in the audience and everything relied primarily on the franchise factor as well as Akshay Kumar’s star power, along with the fact that Riteish Deshmukh continued to be a part of it as well.

As expected, the reviews are mixed and that has been the trend for all Housefull films as well as most of the comedies that Sajid-Farhad have been a part of (as writers). The humor is meant for the mass audience and not the high-brow elite which frown on gags that make one laugh.
What is needed now is further push over the weekend which would ensure that the film steps into the weekdays with a healthy number. Going by the trend so far, which saw the film improving in occupancy right through Friday (and also a better occupancy that it is witnessing today), it should be possible.
