With the announcement coming around digital premiere of Angrezi Medium on Hotstar, the film’s theatrical run has now come to a premature close. Though cinemas have closed down since 16th March, there was always a hope that the Homi Adajania directed film would be seeing a re-release once they open up. In fact the makers had announced that as well, and they were right in doing so since it had seemed that situation will get better by mid-April at least.

Angrezi Medium Box Office: Has A Premature Close To Its Theatrical Run

However with lockdown currently on and talks of it being lifted only in a phased manner post mid-April, it is getting quite clear that theatres won’t really find priority amongst the ‘essential’ public places that would be opened up. With audiences at home and OTT medium already finding traction like never before, the makers have taken the right decision to arrive digitally.

As a result, the lifetime of the Irrfan Khan led film has now concluded at 9.36 crores. The film opened at 4.03 crores, only to begin its slide from Saturday onwards since theatres had already started closing down in multiple states. While Saturday had brought in 2.75 crores, Sunday has further dropped to 2.25 crores and a handful of theatres that were open on Monday had contributed a mere 0.33 crores.
