1921 Maintains A Decent Pace At The Ticket Windows

After enjoying a decent run at the box office, it looks like 1921 will face competition due to Padmaavat.

Filmmaker Vikram Bhatt’s latest thriller outing 1921 has maintained a decent pace at the ticket windows. Despite clashing with two other films—Kaalakaandi starring Saif Ali Khan and Anurag Kashyap’s Mukkabaaz—the film has done good business.

The plot of the film revolves around the character Ayush (Karan Kundrra) who arrives in England to learn music. He is shocked and scared when the mansion he is living in, is haunted by spirits. To exorcise them, he seeks the help of Rose (Zareen Khan), a woman who can see and speak to spirits.

The movie has done a total business of 14.83 crores at the box office. In its second week, the film earned 51 lakhs on Friday, 64 lakhs on Saturday, 88 lakhs on Sunday, 52 lakhs on Monday, 41 lakhs on Tuesday, 29 lakhs on Wednesday. After enjoying a decent run at the box office, it looks like 1921 will face competition due to Padmaavat.

The music of 1921 has received much appreciation from the audience. It has been composed by Harish Sagane, Asad Khan and Pranit Mawale. The lyrics are penned by Shakeel Azmi and Raqueeb Alam. Zareen Khan has praised her 1921 director Vikram Bhatt, saying he is an ocean-full of knowledge.

On her experience of working with Bhatt, Zareen told IANS on phone from Mumbai: “It was great. I did not know him on a personal level before this movie. For me, he was a great director, and I have always been a fan of his work.”

Zareen, who portrays a ghost-whisperer named Rose in the film, added: “I always wanted to work with him and finally got a chance. I am happy I got this chance because apart from being a part of an amazing film, the experience was very cherishable and memorable.

“Now I have him as a friend in my life. He is an amazing human being, and an ocean full of knowledge.”

1921, shot in London, revolves around the lead characters, played by Zareen and actor Karan Kundra. They deal with their dark pasts and secrets to secure their present and future. It is about a struggle between life and death.
