Hrithik Roshan, Abhay Deol, and Farhan Akhtar gave the audience one of the best feel-good movies of all time with Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. It was directed by Farhan’s sister, Zoya Akhtar. It made us laugh, feel nostalgic, and even cry at times. The film, abbreviated as ZNMD, was released in 2011, and it featured Katrina Kaif and Kalki Koechlin in pivotal roles besides the boys. Farhan and Ritesh Sidhwani produced it under the Excel Entertainment banner. The movie was both critically and commercially successful. Also, people fell in love with Hrithik and Katrina’s beautiful chemistry, and they continued it in their following film, Bang Bang.
The story of Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara focused on three childhood friends – Arjun, Kabir, and Imran, played by Hrithik Roshan, Abhay Deol, and Farhan Akhtar. They reunite for a three-week road trip in Spain, also Kabir’s last bachelor trip before his marriage to Natasha. The film has multiple iconic scenes, one of which is the ‘Mantal buoy’ scene where Hrithik halts to attend a meeting with a Japanese client in the middle of their trip.
The Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara star Abhay Deol once shared when Hrithik Roshan almost killed him & Farhan Akhtar during the ‘Mantal Boy’ scene. The Dev D actor said, “I also remember before shooting this scene, Hrithik almost killed me and Farhan. How he did that was he was behind the driver’s seat, and he drove the car into this corner to park it on the side for the background of the shot and forgot to switch the car off! Just opens the door and walks out of it and then suddenly jumps back in cause the car started going forward to go down the hill.”
He added, “Farhan was really fast. I remember he jumped out immediately, and I just sat there thinking, ‘I’m gonna die now.’ Ah, I need to be a lot faster about such things.” The video was posted on Instagram by Tiger Baby. Check it out here:
Abhay Deol also shared how that Dubey sir bit got included in that scene in Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. He revealed Zoya and Farhan had a teacher called Maneckji who could not say ‘boy’ and said ‘buoy’ and ‘mantal,’ and the sibling duo made fun of him.
