Varun Dhawan and Anushka Sharma’s social-drama Sui Dhaaga won hearts upon its release in India. Released during last year, the movie garnered a collection of 79.02 crores and emerged a clean Hit at the box office. On critical front too, it fetched decent reviews. And now, this Yash Raj Films backed venture is all set to join the list of Bollywood outings to be released in China.
Yes, you heard that right! Varun Dhawan-Anushka Sharma’s Sui Dhaaga is releasing in China on coming Friday i.e. 6th December. With an interesting backdrop of small scale entrepreneurship, the movie might work wonders amongst the Chinese audience, as in the past we have seen the biggies like Baahubali 2: The Conclusion and Thugs Of Hindostan, failing big time but small scale movies with freshly approached concepts like Hichki, Secret Superstar, Hindi Medium and AndhaDhun, turning out to be blockbusters.
Let’s see how the fate of Sui Dhaaga unfolds at China box office!
In India, the movie was released on 28th September 2018.
Meanwhile, Sui Dhaaga was selected in the competition category at the Shanghai International Film Festival The Belt and Road Film Week.
Speaking on such an honour, co-producer Maneesh Sharma spoke to IANS by quoting, ” “The story of ‘Sui Dhaaga – Made in India’ is a special salute to the inherent entrepreneurial spirit of local artisans in India. An engaging tale about self-reliance seen through a young couple’s determination against all odds, we believe this very human theme has universal appeal across the globe.”
“I eagerly look forward to the audience response at a platform as prestigious as The Shanghai International Film Festival The Belt and Road Film Week.”
