Veteran Hindi film and television actor Mushtaq Khan, remembered for his supporting and comic roles in films, has died at the age of 56. The actor passed away on Thursday evening, September 24, 2026. He was last seen in Stree 2 and Gadar 2 and was appreciated for his roles in both films. His filmography included Aashiqui, Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke, Hera Pheri, Jodi No. 1, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Welcome, Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, Rowdy Rathore, Badhaai Do, and more films!
Mushtaq Khan’s Cause Of Death Revealed
The late actor was admitted to Mumbai’s Nanavati Hospital and had been undergoing treatment before his death. As per a confirmed report by HT City, He passed away around 7 pm on Thursday. He had been detected with lung cancer earlier and had recovered. However, it relapsed eight days ago and had to be admitted to the hospital. It was the last stage of cancer.”
The actor won accolades for his supporting role in Sony TV’s Kuch Rang Pyaar Ke Aise Bhi, where he played Supriya Pilgaonkar’s brother and Shaheer Sheik’s maternal uncle. He also won an award for Best Supporting Actor for his character in the show.

Mushtaq Khan’s First Salary!
Mushtaq Khan built a long career as a character actor, appearing in films alongside some of Hindi cinema’s biggest stars. Rather than being confined to one type of role, he moved between comedy, drama, and supporting characters. However, he started his career in a film called Trapti. However, in the same interview, Mushtaq Khan also pointed out how some production houses and producers are trying to bridge the gap! He said, “Bahut filmmakers hain jo is bhedbhav ko khatam kar rahe hain. Jaise main ek film kar raha hun Stree 2. Wahan bahut pyaar se rakha jaata hai, bahut dhyaan rakha jaata hai. Wahan aisa lagta hai ki humlog sab ek saath hain. Maine Yashraj ki ek series ki hai, The Railway Men, usme bhi bada dhyaan rakha gaya!”
Mushtaq Khan’s final years also included a traumatic incident of being kidnapped after being invited to an event in Uttar Pradesh. His business partner said that Khan had been lured with an event invitation, an advance payment, and flight arrangements before being taken from Delhi to Bijnor. Reports at the time said he was held for several hours and that the kidnappers demanded ransom.
His death at 56 marks the end of a long career that made him a recognizable presence across films and television.
