With Made In China and Saand Ki Aankh all set to clash with their Diwali release this season, fans are spoilt for choices. While Rajkummar Rao and Mouni Roy’s Made In China has managed to steer clear of controversies so far, Bhumi Pednekar and Taapsee Pannu’s Saand Ki Aankh has been mired in controversies ever since its announcement.
But what has been a long-standing point of conversation around the film, is the ageism debate. Ever since the film’s trailer was out actress Kangana Ranaut’s sister, Rangoli Chandel has accused makers and the actresses of not giving actresses of the characters age a chance to get work. What’s more, is that even veteran actors like Soni Razdan and Neena Gupta too agreed to Rangoli’s point of view and said they should be given a chance to act in those films at least that have characters of their age.
And now, in an exclusive interview with Pinkvilla Rajkummar Rao and Mouni Roy have shared their views about the ongoing debate. Mouni has been quoted saying, “The movie has not released. I’m not in a position to say things since I haven’t yet seen it. Right now probably, it’s unfair and we should keep the debate for when it’s released. You need to see their roles and how they have performed first. Before that, judging someone isn’t right. I wouldn’t want anyone to judge Made In China too based on the trailer so, it’s unfair for us to comment on that.”
In the meanwhile, the Newton actor said, “If the actors can convince me with whatever age they are playing and I know you’re talking about Saand Ki Aankh and if I’m convinced by these two ladies who are playing this role, it’s okay. It just has to be convincing.”
