An exciting news came in last month in the form of Sara Ali Khan, Akshay Kumar and South superstar Dhanush collaborating for Aanand L Rai’s next, titled as Atrangi Re. Going by the name, a lot of comedy and weirdness is expected from the film and looks like the makers already have it all planned. As per the recent reports, the film with witness the leading lady in a double role, and the scripts seems to be similar to the lines of her latest release, Love Aaj Kal.
While Sara and Dhanush are said to be the leading characters, the director recently revealed that Akshay Kumar will be seen in a special character. However, new developments suggest that both the leading men will be seen romancing the actress, but in different eras. Which also means that the film may be similar to Love Aaj Kal, which saw Kartik Aaryan play a double role in two different eras, in a parallel running track.

A source close to Mumbai Mirror revealed the same as, “While Atrangi Re is primarily a love story set in the heartland, laced with humour, the storytelling is in a zone the filmmaker has not attempted before. The screenplay follows a non-linear narrative of two romances from different timelines running in the parallel.”

Talking about Akshay and Dhanush’s characters, “It’s a double role of sorts for Sara, the idea is to showcase diverse sides of the actress. Akshay and Dhanush’s characters too have a special trait that separates them from rest of the cast. Their appearances will be in sync with the way they act and react while a special look is being designed for Akshay,” added the source further.
Atrangi Re is slated for a Valentine’s Day 2021 release.
